Short report on season.
We checked many fields last week.

Holland market, little bit different than before. We checked many fields last week. The north part is very late, but it looks like the crop is strong. Rooting is good, and foliage grew very slow. Due to this, we expect that the bulb growing can be good. Foliage is dark green and rather thick. It is definitely not a bad crop situation at this moment, just very late.
The month of May and first two weeks of June will be most critical time for growing good bulbs.

Attached some pictures for you to see current situation. Generally, we feel the season is two weeks late. The weather now warmed up and flowering is coming very quick. In this week, it is expected to be around 20 C day temperatures. There is almost no rain in weather expectation for next 7 days.
Soil condition is very dry. There has almost not been any rain for past 3 weeks. Only early in April, some good rains but by this moment it is all very dry. Growers are all irrigating already every day.

Prices of bulbs remain stable (which is little bit higher than last season). The mood for buying is strong for flower forcing companies in Holland. They have made good profit this year and are buying big quantities. So, buying and selling mood is dominated by the Dutch bulb growers and cut flower growers. The export buying is slow and not having much impact on mood at this moment in Holland.
