E-MAIL Enkhuizen, May 24, 2011

Dear customer,

Thanks for your usual cooperation.

As you might know, from May 12 to May 20, 2011, more than 20,000 lilies (300 different varieties) were shown again at the Keukenhof park during the Lily Parade, the worldfs biggest Lily show. We are glad to inform you that you can see the pictures of the newest lily varieties introduced by several breeders at the Lily Parade 2011 on our website now. You can find the pictures at the following link:

or on our website www.jandewitenzonen.com at the section gPicturesh. We are glad to send you some pictures attached to this e-mail as well.

The following 1st prizes were awarded:

- Asiatics/LA-hybrids: ePratolof, Gebr. Vletter en Den Haan from Rijnsburg: 9,42 points, also the Keukenhof Lily 2011
- Longiflorum/LO: eWatch Upf, Marklily from Lisse: 9,42 points

- Crossbreeding: Lilium martagon eAlbumf, Lily Company from Andijk: 9,22 points.

Of course, most of these brand new varieties are still very scarce,
but please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or inquiries so that we can check and inform you.

For your information, the growing of the lilies is very early this year. We are having nice dry, sunny,
rather warm weather this spring since March. The planting went very well. Nature in Holland is approx.
2 weeks earlier than in an average season so far.
Please also check our monthly updated weather statistics on our website www.jandewitenzonen.com,
at the section gNewsh. The direct link is:

However, in the night of May 4 to May 5 we had very serious night frost, mostly in the north-east part of Holland,
like Drenthe province. The temperature was even lower than -7ºC!! This seems to have caused serious damage to many lily fields.
The grade of the damage depends on many factors, like the planting date, whether the grower has irrigated the field in time,
the kind of soil, the location, the variety, etc.

At this moment, the OT varieties like Robina, Conca dfOr and Manissa seem to be most seriously affected.
We expect that it will still take some time before the real damage will become clear, also in the Oriental varieties.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further information.

Having pleasure to be at your service and looking forward to hearing from you, we beg to remain with the best regards.

Yours sincerely,
Jan de Wit en Zonen B.V.

Met vriendelijke groet / With kind regards,
