Seasons 2008 & 2009 were good growing season for Southern Bulbs in Chile. If we look backwards we have a couple of things to remember:

a) Crop 2008 sprouts were very high from the start of the harvest, we had tu push to finish earlier
than usual and still then sprouts was on the edge.
b) Crop 2009 sprouts were also very high and in fact we started the harvest in some varieties like
Siberia earlier that ever before. As a consequence of this, extra measures were implemented for scale rots
problems which is normally the problem when the sprout is high but the crop is not ripe enough.
Season 2008 & 9 were more or less in the same t° average during March-May.
c) In season 2010 that the average growing t° of the season was 2,5°C lower that last season and
around 1,8°C lower from cutting the buds until end May 2010. Sprouts right now are very much under control,
big difference with last year. It is not easy to find product ripe and sprouts of the further varieties is
around 50-60% aproximately. Since till this far we only have had a few and late night frost the crops are still
with tight stems on the plants. So far, only LA and AS has been harvested and some Yelloween, nothing else.

Trust this information is useful for you.
Kind regards,

Jorge Buschmann Rehbein
