Dear Mr Moriyama,
Attached few pictures for indication of slow stage development. I cut some bulbs now for picture.
Stage development is very slow. I know most other exporters also informed already. It is two weeks behind, sometimes even more.
This week we cannot ship any 5C bulbs. It is too early. Each lot number, we have to check many times to make sure stage G is reached. It is very dangerous year for starting cooling date. Because pressure from growers side is high, they do not want to delay the planting week too much.
On other hand, we have to make sure 100% that bulb is ready for start cooling. It is difficult game at the moment.
You can see on Kees Nelis picture, almost no sprout development at all. These are clay soil bulbs, so late harvest.
But Antarctica was rather early and sprout is still only 4mm.
Conqueror is Darwin Hybrid. Normally quick for development. But now also only 3 mm sprout.
(all pictures are normal Tulip, NOT Zeeland or other early crop)
I hope to give you more detail on early orders development. This week we will try to give indication of stage G status for earliest planting weeks.
Maybe pictures are helpful for understanding of development for Japan growers.
Regards,
Andre.
